How to find the piece from your screenshot

Six ways to track down a piece you saved on Instagram, in your size, at a fair price, in a shop where you can try it.

You saw it in a post, took a screenshot, and moved on. Weeks later it's somewhere in your camera roll, and you still don't know where to buy it, in which size, or for how much. A few habits turn a screenshot into a piece you can try on.

1. Keep the pieces you mean in one album

Make one album for the pieces you'd really buy, and move screenshots and saved posts there as you take them. Add a line to each: the size you'd need, the most you'd pay, and what you liked about it. When you're ready to shop, the list is already made.

2. Ask the shop, with the screenshot

If the post comes from a shop, send them the screenshot in a message, with your size. Many local shops on Instagram give the price and the sizes in stock only by message, and a screenshot saves a round of questions about which piece you mean.

3. Search by image when you don't know the shop

When the screenshot comes from a friend, a reposted outfit or an influencer, an image search such as Google Lens often finds the shop, or the same design somewhere else. Look for a shop in Tunisia before ordering from abroad: delivery, customs and returns change the real price.

4. Compare the same design across shops

The same piece, or one very close to it, often sells at several shops for different prices. Check two or three before you pay, and note each price with the date. A sale is worth waiting for only if the price really drops below what it was before.

5. Know your size at the shops you buy from

A 38 at one shop can fit like a 40 at another. Keep your size at each shop you buy from, for each kind of piece, so a message to the shop or a quick visit doesn't end in the wrong size.

6. Try it before you pay

Photos hide the fabric, the length and the real colour. If the shop has a showroom or a stall, go and try the piece. If it sells only online, ask about exchanges before you order.

Where Tannya fits

We're building Tannya to do this searching for you: show it the piece you want, with a screenshot, a link or a few words, and it looks in local shops and on Instagram, then tells you where it is, in your size, at what price, and where you can try it. It's at concept stage, and the waitlist gets the first invitations to our pilot.
